Pieces of pages from 16th and 17th century books (text in Spanish and in English) have been sewn over and chine colle. An abstracted figure has been printed on relief representing someone swimming across the Rio Grande. A blind embossment of text from the Codex Mendoza appears over the entire print.
This print is the first in the series "Borders". It attempts to depict the landscape and activity in the border between Mexico and the US. Filled with symbols, it is a subtle rendition of various aspects of migration from the south to the north.
